Consulting and Advisory Services

Consulting and Advisory Services

Wildfire Resilient Landscapes offers consulting and advisory support for organizations, agencies, and community groups working at the intersection of environment, public systems, and long-term resilience.

Many environmental challenges are not just ecological. They are also organizational, operational, and structural. Programs must be designed, funded, and implemented within complex public and nonprofit systems.

This consulting practice translates research, planning, and systems analysis into practical strategies that help organizations:

  • design fundable programs
  • Align projects with grant opportunities
  • strengthen environmental and community resilience initiatives
  • improve planning, structure, and implementation pathways

Our work is grounded in real-world program development, public administration training, and experience building an emerging environmental nonprofit from the ground up.

Areas of Support

Services are designed for early-stage organizations, small environmental nonprofits, and community-based initiatives that need structured planning and strategic guidance.

Support may include:

  • Program and project design
  • Grant research and funding alignment
  • Systems and resilience analysis
  • Strategic planning and organizational structure
  • Environmental initiative concept development
  • Planning support for community-based resilience projects

Custom engagements are available depending on organizational needs.

Consultant Debbie Hanson

Debbie Hanson is the founder of Wildfire Resilient Landscapes and provides independent consulting focused on environmental program development, systems analysis, and resilience planning.

She holds a Master of Public Administration from California State University, Northridge, where her graduate work focused on nonprofit sustainability, governance, and environmental systems. Her academic research examines how public, environmental, and community systems interact, and how program design and funding structures influence long-term recovery and resilience.

Through the development of Wildfire Resilient Landscapes, Debbie has led the design of multiple environmental project concepts, conducted grant research and alignment analysis, and secured seed funding to support early-stage organizational development. Her work emphasizes planning-level design, funding strategy, and the structural foundations needed to move ideas toward implementation.

Her consulting approach combines:

  • public administration training
  • environmental systems perspective
  • grant-driven program design
  • practical experience building a mission-based organization

She works with organizations that need structured thinking, planning clarity, and guidance navigating early-stage development.

Work With Me

If your organization is exploring a project, seeking funding alignment, or developing an environmental initiative, consulting support may help clarify next steps.

Approach

My work is grounded in the belief that resilient landscapes require resilient systems. Environmental solutions depend not only on ecology, but also on planning, governance, funding structures, and organizational capacity.

Consulting engagements focus on helping organizations move from ideas to structured, fundable, and actionable programs.
