Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Debbie@wildfireresilientlandscapes.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Wildfire Resilient Landscapes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making California more fire-adapted, ecologically balanced, and community-empowered.

We focus on reducing wildfire risk through native plant restoration, fire-smart landscaping, and public education. Our work includes rebuilding resilient ecosystems with fire-resistant and drought-tolerant plants, helping communities create defensible space, training the next generation in environmental resilience, and teaching residents about fire ecology and climate-smart practices.

Through initiatives like seed kits and future restoration sites, WRL is working to build a safer and greener future for Southern California—one plant at a time.

How You Can Get Involved

Wildfire Resilient Landscapes (WRL) is in its early stages, and your support will help us take root and grow. Whether you are an individual, business, or organization, there are many ways to join us in building fire-resilient communities and ecosystems across California.

Support Through Donations
Your gift helps fund education, restoration, and outreach. You can make a one-time or monthly donation, direct support to a program such as seed kits or habitat restoration, or sponsor a project as a business or corporate partner. Until our own donation platform launches, contributions can be made through GoFundMe.

Partner With Us
WRL welcomes collaboration with foundations, grantmakers, nonprofits, and agencies that share our commitment to wildfire resilience, conservation, workforce development, and education. Together, we can co-host projects and expand impact.

Volunteer and Employment Opportunities (Coming Soon)
As we grow, we plan to offer opportunities to help with planting, assembling seed kits, supporting outreach, and joining community events. Future job openings will be posted as WRL develops capacity.

Spread the Word
Sharing our mission is one of the most potent ways to help. Tell your network about WRL, invite us to speak with your school, club, or community group, and follow our updates on social media.

Wildfire Resilient Native Plants Nursery (WRN) is the for-profit social enterprise connected to Wildfire Resilient Landscapes. Its purpose is to grow and supply native, drought-tolerant, and fire-resilient plants and seeds for communities, homeowners, landscapers, and restoration projects across California.

WRN is designed to support both ecological and economic resilience. By offering regionally adapted plants, WRN helps reduce wildfire risk, restore biodiversity, and promote sustainable landscaping practices. It also creates opportunities for local job growth and future partnerships with schools, agencies, and nonprofits.

While still in its early stages, WRN aims to:

  • Provide affordable access to fire-resilient and pollinator-friendly plants.
  • Offer seed kits and starter plants to households in high wildfire-risk areas.
  • Supply larger-scale projects such as habitat restoration, public landscaping, and community green spaces.
  • Reinforce the mission of WRL by generating earned income that sustains long-term environmental work.

Together, WRL and WRN form a complementary model that is a sustainable, mission-driven business that supports nonprofit education and community programs.
